BCBSRI's CEO Champions Daymark in Boston Globe Op-Ed on Healthcare Costs

In an op-ed published in The Boston Globe, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island President and CEO Martha L. Wofford makes the case for healthcare innovation in Rhode Island, and uses the Daymark Health partnership as an example of what this innovation can look like in practice.

Wofford makes the case for reining in rising healthcare costs, pointing to the BCBSRI-Daymark partnership as one of the concrete solutions her organization is bringing to the table: a cancer care support program built in close collaboration with local cancer institutes to deliver timely access to care and meaningfully better outcomes.

For Wofford, the impact isn't abstract. Of the patients enrolled in the program, she writes that they "consistently tell us that they feel supported, and that care feels more coordinated, more personal, and less overwhelming" — a real-world testament to what a different model of cancer care can look like.
